Welcome…… a quick look at the weather
forecast for Swansea indicates that the next week should be a settled
one with temperatures up to 20 degC (66 degF as I remember it!) which
should do two things - help people think about holidays again and kill
off the FM virus so that Butcher Blair can boast that he has it under
control!
The BBC 1 roadshow at Morfa brought a lot
of people into the city but I suspect there has been little short term
gain. We, for example, have had a number of riding cancellations from
people going to the free event.
We've had a group spend a great weekend
climbing at Three Cliffs and have been involved in the opening of
activity sites in the Brecon Beacons National Park (BBNP). Discussions
between Forest Enterprise (FE) and a group of private activity providers
paved the way for BBNP to allow controlled use of the Dinas Rock gorge
walking site at Glynneath and Porth yr Ogof cave.
The appearance two weeks after the FMD
case at Skewen has hardly been helpful (I notice that the sign on the
Mumbles Road was overturned on Sunday morning). Just why there has are
not signs saying that you are leaving an infected area beats
me!
We are continuing to list open and accessible attractions
in the area as well as details of Foot and Mouth (FMD) and the effects on Swansea and Gower on our
website.
Whatever the weather Advantage Gower
will continue to bring useful information to help
us all win and maintain visitors throughout the year. We welcome feedback so that we can provide
just the right amount of information to encourage visitors to come to
the area and stay longer once they have arrived.

Riding and
Adopt a
Pony Days
With the warmer weather coming along our
stables will be getting busier with rides out and lessons. Adopt a Pony days continue to be
very popular as they are a great way for parents to have some time to
themselves while the children come to us and look after a pony for a
day.
Full details of our hacks and lessons are on our web
site as well as pictures of the horses and staff.

open Cefn Bryn - who is following the MAFF
guidelines which recommend the
opening of footpaths across open or fenced moorland even if animals are
present!
A Little Beach
for the Afternoon
Have you noticed that
the water in Swansea Bay looks a lot cleaner. Two years ago I would
hardly recommend a visit to the litlle beach alongside Knab Rock but
this is a welcome oasis close to the promenade, boats and amusements.
Lots of shells indicate that there are cockles, mussels and oysters
growing in the bay. Watch out for jet skis!!
Don't
forget Clyne
Gardens is coming to a peak with the most stunning display of rhododendron and azaleas
collected by Admiral Vivian of Clyne Castle. During May there are
brass band concerts every Sunday and a Red Cross tea tent most days.
If not try Clyne Farm's coffee shop . The first turn after
the gardens is Westport Avenue. Follow Westport Avenue to its highest
point and you will see the sign for Clyne Farm Centre on your right.
Follow the sign through the houses and the Centre is ahead of you. The
Office and Coffee Shop are on the left of the farmhouse.
Good
Eating - with Kids!
If you
are looking for good food and a restaurant welcoming children then we've
had good reports about Patrick's at 636-638 Mumbles Road (01792 360199).
Our Swiss visitor Natalie Polke and her family said the service and
attention to the children was excellent. Slightly more expensive than
some places but worth it particularly lunchtime. Booking advisable.
