Welcome…… two weeks of sunshine then it's back to Bank
Holiday weather! If your visitors are fed up with the weather now's the
time to send them to the places that they can have a great time
whatever the weather - Clyne Farm, Gower Heritage Centre, DanyrOgof
Caves to name just a few. This week we look at a rail journey to
Carmarthen on market day and what's new at Clyne Farm Centre.
| Last week we
mentioned the possibilities that golfing holidays could increase
visitors to the area. Here we have our latest group from Farnham in
Surrey. Organiser Adrian Humphreys put the trip together and from that
we are in the advanced stages of offering golfing packages which we
intend making available locally. Watch this space for more
details..... |

Offer for you and your visitors
Foot and Mouth is definitely
a back page issue even though there were seven reported cases last
Saturday. At last - two months after MAFF guidelines were issued -
commons such as Cefn Bryn are again open for the biggest Bank Holiday of
the year.
We are continuing to list open and accessible attractions
in the area as well as details of Foot and Mouth (FMD) and the effects on Swansea and Gower on our
website.
Whatever the weather Advantage Gower
will continue to bring useful information to help
us all win and maintain visitors throughout the year. We welcome feedback so that we can provide
just the right amount of information to encourage visitors to come to
the area and stay longer once they have arrived.

| With the busy
time of the year approaching we've been out and about looking for new
horses. Instructor Kevin is seen here coming back from a test ride on
Melody - a 13.2H black cob mare who will join us next week. Melody is very quiet and will be ideal for the teenage rider who wants to
improve their riding skills. Check out Melody's
details on our web
site next week. |
 |
This week is going to be very
busy so if you have visitors wanting to ride please try and book in
advance.
Full details of our hacks and lessons are on our web
site as well as pictures of the horses and staff.
Learn
to Paint and Draw
Our first painting and
drawing course is set to be a success so we will be exploring other craft
and environmemtal topics in the future. The course - which is a great opportunity to learn drawing and watercolour
painting is over five days - Monday 28 May to Friday 1
June.
The course will cover the
basics of drawing and sketching and look at watercolour painting of a
variety of subjects around Clyne Farm. Depending on the weather this can
include buildings, animals, sea and landscapes and the course will be
conducted in an informal atmosphere.
The normal cost is £35 per
day but we're offering it to participant providers and their guests at a
special price of £25 per day or £100 for
the week. Ring us on 01792 403333 as soon as possible to book places.

Dump of the
Week
High Street
Station is hardly a fitting advert for the second city of Wales. It's on
a small, mean site inhabited by agressive, scruffy taxi drivers. The
toilets are something else and the whole palce could do with a coat of
paint.
What is
needed is a total revamp. Do a Hitler, raze it to the ground and rebuild
100m down the track with a decent forecourt which can accommodate buses
and coaches, setting down points for cars and for those taxi drivers who
pass a rigorous customer care programme.
If this
town wants to be a city it needs to act like a city.
Gong
of the Week
The
railway journey to Carmarthen gets the top vote this week after our trip
there in glorious sunshine last week. Wednesday is market day but the
train was uncommonly full because of special offer tickets to Tenby.
That was the 10.05. There was also a 10.11 which was probably less full.
The day return cost was £5.40 per person.
The
route is among the most picturesque coastal routes around and the track
hugs the coastline most of the way giving views over north Gower and
Carmarthen Bay on its 50 minute journey.
| Carmarthen
itself is like a living Welsh Folk Museum and the market - both
the undercover part and the outdoor Wednesday only section are
lively and have a genuine buzz about them. |

|
| Take
your pick of the many coffee shops and cafes which German
visitor Jurgen Buttner rates as the best in Britain. |

|
There's
still time Visitors that we send to Clyne Gardens come back
amazed with the most stunning display of rhododendron and azaleas
collected by Admiral Vivian of Clyne Castle.
Try Clyne Farm's coffee shop - the first turn after
the gardens is Westport Avenue. Follow Westport Avenue to its highest
point and you will see the sign for Clyne Farm Centre on your right.
Follow the sign through the houses and the Centre is ahead of you. The
Office and Coffee Shop are on the left of the farmhouse.
