Welsh hills give sting in tail for world's leading
rally drivers
After a week of reasonable weather
the bad weather that has made the Wales Rally GB's reputation returned to
haunt the drivers on Day one of 2007. Who will take the title and the
drivers championship will most likely be decided by the weather with the
Met Office promising worse for the final days.
Clyne Farm had five crews staying in
their self catering cottages. Among them TV and radio journalists Tony
Jardine and Maurice Hamilton whose clean and tidy Ford Focus is seen outside their
cottage. New Zealander Haydon Paddon's Black Lance Evo avoided the horses
at Clyne Farm but hit a rock on Stage One and had to pull out but was back
in the event on Day Two only to crash out on Day Three.
Veteran New Zealander Brian
Green continues making progress in his white Lancer which was prepared in
a makeshift service area at Clyne Farm. Matt Beebe looks to have his
British title sewn up. George Thomas aims to finish the event in his
Citroen.
