Mr Whoo - Where are you?

Diary of a fugitive

During the recent stormy weather, winds up to 97.7mph swept across Clyne Farm.  One casualty of the freak weather was the enclosure containing Mr Whoo our European Eagle Owl!  That was the start of his very publicised adventures!  Do you know where he is?  We've had many kind phone calls from concerned members of the public who think they have seen our feathered friend.  Some from as far away as the West Midlands!  We’ve even had a psychic from Canada contacting us with information!

The Final Day...

Clyne Farm's owner Geoff Haden received a call from David Stares, the groundsman at Ashleigh Road Playing fields, about 2 miles from the Centre at 9am 17th January.

David had spotted Mr Whoo caught in one of the football nets on the playing fields.  Geoff contacted Paul Llewellyn, a local conservation and wildlife expert, together with Dai (Paul's son) and a local RSPCA officer they met at the playing fields.

They were greeted with the sight of our missing owl tangled amongst the bottom corner of a football goal.  Under the watchful eye of the RSPCA he was cut free and returned safely to Clyne Farm.

The next step is to build him a brand new (wind resistant!) enclosure to replace his old one.  In the meantime all of us at Clyne are very pleased to see his safe return.  He is lucky to have survived in the wild, especially as David at the playing fields had seen a fox there recently.

Harry Potter Owl warning
Experts are warning against children keeping owls as pets.  The warning comes just before the release of the new Harry Potter film - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.  Some people have suggested that maybe a Harry Potter Fan has our owl Mr Whoo!

Owls do not make very good pets, they need lots of space, and baby owls do not stay cute and cuddly for long.  They need specialist care like here at Clyne Farm.  We all hope that Mr Whoo is released from his magical spell soon and returns to his castle on the top of the hill!
