information from our partner companies to make our website the

We welcome feedback

Clyne
Farm Shortlisted for Major Award
Clyne Farm Centre's
approach to modern technology has earned it a shorlisting in the
prestigious Wales Tourist Board Tourism Awards 2002 in the Making
IT Work for Tourism section. The award ceremony
will be in North Wales on 11 April but the initial interviews were at
The Pop Factory in Porth - luckily I didn't have to sing so Will and
Gareth's Pop Idol crowns are still intact!
Advantage Gower is
a major part of our presence on the web so thanks to everyone who has
contributed with suggestions about content and how it can be improved.

| The
Keeper's Cottage - hidden room revealed |
|
We've done a spot of Changing Rooms
at Keeper's Cottage with the mystery of the hidden room revealed. Keen
House Detectives who have stayed at the 160 year old cottage have found
the hidden room beyond the ground floor bathroom. Well, that hidden room
- which used to be part of the rear entrance at one time - has been
incorporated into a new bathroom with a walk-in shower room off the adjoining bedroom. For people with
reduced mobility this means that there is a level area from the front
door (see photo above).
There are still a few changes to be
completed and
then we will be looking at Barn Owl Lodge to make some detailed changes
suggested by visitors (some of whom have spotted the hidden room there
as well!).

Gwen's
Gower - take an armchair walk - send cards to your friends
Following the great success of our
Valentine's Day cards for horses we've enlisted the aid of Gwen - our
border collie pup take us on guided walks around Gower. The first is to
Three Cliffs and is set up so that you can e mail your friends with
views of the spectacular Gower scenery - worth a look

Having spent some time on our entry
for the Wales Tourist Board Destination Management System (DMS) I'm not
now convince that it is the panacea that it has been trumpeted as - time
will tell.
What was impressive this
week was the website www.jungle.com
where I ordered software 30% cheaper than the manufacturer's RRP.
Ordering was straightforward and I pressed the GO button 7.00pm Thursday
evening and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived 11.00am Saturday
morning.
Dump of the
Week
Fact
We have a
European neighbour to our left which is a significant trading partner -
Ireland. Many people from the Republic travel through Swansea Docks on
the Swansea-Cork Ferry.
Note to
City and County of Swansea
How long is it
going to take to get signs in the Docks and on the roads out to direct
people to stop in Swansea and Gower before heading straight up the M4?
Note to
Associated British Ports
When are you
going to make the ferryport and docks attractive to visitors? Take a
look at Cork for what can be done to soften the landscape
Gong
of the Week
Just
in time for Easter a smart new Welcome to Mumbles sign at Blackpill has
been constructed of stone and slate - well done to whoever commissioned
this excellent improvement.
Isn't
it a
pity that the developer of the Oystermouth Bus Station site hasn't been
given the same opportunity to improved the heart of the village?
| Did
you know? Macmillan
Cancer Relief has had such overwhelming support for its
fundraiser on Challenge Valley
on 28 April that the area organiser Kathryn Morgan has
provisionally booked in 21 April for the overspill so if
you want a great day and raise money for a good cause contact
Kathryn at kmorgan@macmillan.org.uk
and help a great cause.
See how Bishop Gore School raised money
for the same charity earlier this month in our Photo
